Back Again
June 20th, 2005 by Northern FarmerHard to believe it’s been over a month since I was here. I guess I’m a great reader of blogs but not much into writing my own. So much has happened this past month or so since I’ve found so many great blogs promoting a Christian Agrarian lifestyle. Now I know I’m not alone in this dream. No better way of life can I think of. Every day it’s great to wake up and take care of our own little peice of our Lord’s world. And my children being brought up out here, it’s hard to think of anything better. What can I say, I’m happy!
All in all things are going very well this summer here on the farm. Our 200 chickens are growing outside, true pictures of health. Plan to have the first Sunday chicken in about 2 weeks. Can’t wait!
The open pollinated corn that I planted on seven acres is doing as well or better than the hybrids. One more step to get away from the multi national corporation dominated agriculture.
I was just out in the garden and have to say this is the first evening this year I got driven out by misquitoes. They sure were some hungry little buggers. But most of the garden looks good.
Tommorrow’s another day, Lord willing, that we can work this farm for his Glory.

Seems like my wife had a t-shirt back when we got married (’bout 25 years ago) that had a picture of a huge mosquito (filled the entire front of the shirt) with the caption: “Minnesota State Bird.” Makes me shudder to even think about it …

They still have that t-shirt for sale around here. This morning is mosquito paradise here. The present low is 81 above with a lite fog.I think I’ll be donating blood to our majestic birds today!

You know the mosquitos in Alaska were the darnedest things I ever saw. You literally would inhale them while breathing. We got used to being eaten alive after a while, but man it was something to see!

I’ve never been to Alaska to experience it but have heard the same thing from a few folks. The closest I’ve come to a condition like that was in Canada fishing years ago. It was a black cloud of them things. We couldn’t even smoke them out.
