Credit Score

I wonder what people in the fast lane would say about how things are done around here sometimes. When I go to town for something important, not the big city mind you, just some of the surrounding small towns I don’t even take a billfold with. Cash I carry in my beef herd notebook that’s in my front shirt pocket and all the businesses I go to I never pay them on the spot. The CO-OP for example, I pay the fifteenth of every month, that way I only have twelve receipts to worry about at tax time, hardware, parts, and the like, all the same. I don’t consider this debt, just smart and easy business. Two years ago I got a full blown audit from the friendly IRS and my system worked out just fine. I even got complimented by the IRS agent for having such easy records. It took about five years off of my life preparing for the audit but in the end it was all OK. Every bill I’ve ever had I’ve paid on time or before hand. I’ve mentioned before we don’t have credit cards and never plan to, but sometimes I have a little fun applying for them on the computer or by toll free phone numbers. We’ve always been rejected!! I love that!! They say we have a poor credit score. Yep, being debt free, owning a good size farm, a few hundred head of cattle, not a bill to our name, except our monthly local bills, and we’re poor risks. You gotta love this country. Meanwhile, some of the local deadbeats who go bankrupt like the change of seasons always have all the credit cards that the banking institutions in this country can offer. They always find someone to lend them some money for that new four door pickup, and the yearly or twice yearly vacation trips to some distant place on the planet. Honestly, I get a kick out of how upside down the system is. Truthfully, I don’t want any credit but it is an interesting observation, how the modern world puts value on people. According to them I’m a loser. And that suits me just fine!!
