Herrick's post made me smile - I'm in SW Wisconsin, an area that has a growing Amish presence, and I was just thinking the other day (as I pulled up to the pump at $2.59/gal) how little they must notice so many of the things that are at the top of the agenda for the modern world. It isn't a bad thing at all.....

A particularly nice 300 acre former (and failed) dairy farm in my town sold earlier this spring to a nice Mennonite family from PA. The farm has a couple barns down the road maybe 1/8th mile from the main house and barn. I love to drive by the place and see the improvements that are happening. And, at various times, I've seen the mom, the dad, and the kids (four boys) riding a bike or walking from the main farm down the road to the other barns. They don't jump in a 4-wheeler or pickup and barrell down the road like all the other modern farmers around here. Your blog brought this to mind Tom.
