Oh Well
September 30th, 2005 by Northern FarmerWell, score another victory for corporate ag. They muscled in here now taking over the local co-op. I’m still a little stunned at it all but will get over it soon enough. I could go on and on about how they did everything illegal during this vote but to what use. That’s the way of the “world”. The good coming out of this is that I now know that there are alot of like minded farmers around here that were voicing opinions like mine last night at the election meeting. Corporate ag is tearing through the heartland like most of us cannot imagine. To agrarian minded folk, lets keep on keeping on. What bothers me the most is from my angle , corporate ag is about ready to implode. It’s like so many things now, tremendously in debt, energy shortages, taking everything their customers, (farmers), have, and leaving little in the countryside to show for everything the farmers have done. And once they take over mostly everything what happens when they have big problems and everyone is dependant on them?
But all in all it was a good day here. Sunny and in the 70s. The air is so much fresher now after a good frost, not the humid stuff we had earlier. I was hauling bales most of the day and picked a remote field so I was alone. You know , sometimes that just feels good. Go out working on some land and I can’t see homes or cars. Just a field surrounded by woods. Seen some deer and our resident Sandhill Crane family. Just plain peaceful. Funny how in this life a person can work all day and sometimes it’s better than any vacation.
