The Healing (A Praise)
November 10th, 2005 by Northern FarmerI think every muscle and bone I have is sore this evening. Just can’t wait to hit the hay in a bit. Three of us worked almost two hundred and fifty head of cattle today and that job can wear a person out. Even with our setup some of those stubborn old cows can really give a guy a workout. On the plus side it was a beautiful day, clear skies and almost sixty above with little wind. This time of the year gives a farmer’s body some badly needed sleep time with the shorter days. We don’t feel guilty going to bed around nine in the evening. In the summer we’re still having at it outside in the daylight at that time.
This has been a good fall, in fact it might be the most beautiful that I can ever remember but I get a feeling that the ball is going to drop one of these days. Sometimes winter can hit here like a hammer blow. It’s been years but this area can be brutal in winter. At least this winter is different now that we found a Bible preaching church. Now we’re looking forward to Sundays and Wednesday evenings. What a tremendous change in our family, hard to describe really. Instead of being beaten down by the world we’re witnessing Gods works daily. I wasn’t going to blog this because it is a little personal, but here goes anyhow.
Daughter Rachel has been deaf in one ear for the last year and it’s been bothering her a lot. She’s been to the doctors many times about it and none could figure it out. Well, a couple of Sundays ago in church she passed out during the service standing during prayer. Got all gray in the face and the like. The Pastor came back to where we were and started praying and the whole congregation came around and prayed too. She came around in a bit and the prayers continued. Finally everything went back to normal in church. After services my wife took her to the hospital and they checked her out further. They figured it could be from the ear problem. Yesterday was the day that she had an appointment with an ear specialist because of her continuing deafness. This was some bigshot specialist from the city that comes out to country hospitals like a circuit rider ever few weeks.
He checked her out bigtime and was perplexed. Because going through all her records he figured he’d find something that was causing the deafness and sometimes pain. But upon checking her out he discovered, we discovered, and Rachel discovered she had perfect hearing in both ears. And everything was perfectly back to normal in the inner ear that had been deaf until then . It just happened! And she has never felt better. We were all in shock and it took a little time to put it all together and it all points back to that little country church in the hills. When people truly gather in Jesus’s name good things do happen. Thank you Jesus.
