A Rare Sunday Evening Post
November 13th, 2005 by Northern FarmerA good Sunday today, even if the weather was a tad bit miserable this morning during feeding chores outside. The family is really charged up after attending church services this morning. The service this morning is more than worthy of a separate blog so I’ll have to do it sometime.
I’ve been blogging for around six months now and it sure has had it’s ups and downs to say the least. But mostly ups. When I started I had no idea it would ever be classified as a Christian Agrarian blog, and even more amazing is that anyone would ever give it a second look, not to mention a first look. And so many other blogs have started up with a Christian Agrarian theme it’s amazing, and I’m truly grateful for them.
Anyone that’s ever read this blog is sure to detect my moods at the moment of writing, sometimes joyous, sometimes mad, sometimes humble, and sometimes just writing down the day’s events here. I think it’s time to reaffirm where I come from as an absolute rooky blogger, I won’t use the word writer because I’m sure not. I classify myself as a Jeffersonian Agrarian. In other words an agrarian that sees the farm folk as the base of the nation. I’m “not†a separatist trying to live totally apart. My dream is to see this as a Christian Agrarian nation once again as it was when the Lord inspired the Founding Fathers. My dream is to once again see freedom for the many Christian denominations all over the countryside. You won’t see me saying that this particular denomination will be the one to take over when everything goes down the tubes, nope. That’s all I need is to be ordered around by some nutcase telling me how to live as they see fit. Just doesn’t work that good for me and my family, you see the freedom is taken away in a situation such as that.
The Founding Fathers had it figured out, not much more to improve on. My job here on the farm is to contribute to this once great nation as much as I can and try to improve the future of my children and their children. And by that I mean to keep going and make the farm and family strong and self sufficient and have a deep faith in God. And most importantly to not retreat. When we retreat we’re not spreading Gods word to the people He wants us to minister to. In effect our faith is dead when we retreat. And evil grows strong.
Every blog is different in this little network and that’s what makes them so interesting. I just wanted to share where this one is coming from.

Tom,
I’ve been reading your blog now for about a month. I’ve gone back and read all your archived posts. You have really helped me to settle some of the questions I’ve had about my own desires. At times I’ve been very confused within myself about what I hoped to accomplish or become. I too, don’t consider what we’re doing as a seperatist movement, but more a restoration movement. What we want is to take back control of our heritage that our founding fathers built for us. In our homeschool we have studied Thomas Jefferson considerably, but you have inspired me to dig deeper into his writings more for myself. Thanks and keep writing.

Thanks for the kind words Mike.Last winter I devoted almost all my reading time in the late evening to studying Thomas Jefferson and it was time well spent. And taking back our heritage or freedom is the most important thing we can do for the coming generations. Our freedom is almost ready to be yanked out from under us and it’s past time that we start doing something about it.Between the Bible and studying our founding fathers we have the best ammunition any people can have. Farmer Statesmen.
