A Quick Post
December 1st, 2005 by Northern FarmerI think it’s officially winter here because our world is white now on the farm. And it’s been busy but not overwhelming. The main jobs are winter feeding no matter what the weather and making firewood. That outdoor woodstove that we installed to heat three buildings sure is a hungry bugger. I feel like the fireman on an old steam locomotive, always firing up. But warm buildings sure are nice to work in when the wind is roaring like it sometimes does as it sweeps off the northern plains near here.
Last evening we went to church and it struck me how beautiful winter can be sometimes, it was snowing out and in Minnesota snow or ice means you get in the car and drive around, kinda a culture thing. On the way to church we enter a hill and lake country and it’s so beautiful, even in the dark. The church we go to is in a rather large town for my taste, Pop 140, but we manage the traffic. Even the streets are gravel, my kind of place. The church is a little old fashion country church like you’d see on postcards or Christmas Cards. Kids are outside making snowmen and getting into snowball fights as the large flakes were gently falling and people were even standing outside talking. To be truthful it was a very moving scene.
Services were wonderful and as always I’m all charged up. In the future I’m going to blog about my experiences the last few months in this little old fashion church. I’ve mentioned a few things and am wondering how to paint the big picture on what’s been happening with us. Our story and the churches story are wonderful. For now I have to be gone this evening but I just wanted to check in to the blog and let you know the moment I have some time it’ll be right back on pace. With a little luck that’ll be soon.
