Agrarians Bloggers In Minnesota
December 6th, 2005 by Northern FarmerLife is getting interesting out here on the farm lately. A few short weeks ago we had a guest from Kentucky stop by for a whirlwind visit. Rick Saenz of Cumberland Books dropped by one rather cool Thursday morning to do an interview for an agrarian project he has in the works. It was a great pleasure to meet him and I can only hope it’s not the last time. I gotta admit I was almost as nervous as when I had an IRS audit two years ago, waiting for the day Rick would arrive. It was the first time in my life I ever wore headphones, and the first time I was ever interviewed for anything. But Rick’s the kinda guy that can put anyone at ease. After he left we checked his blog, Dry Creek Chronicles, link on the sidebar, constantly hoping that he made it back home OK. And if Rick ever heads this way again he’ll have two agrarian bloggers almost next to each other.
Because, it sounds like I’m going to be getting an agrarian blogger for a neighbor, and it sure makes me one happy fella. JM from the blog Antithesis in Agriculture, link on the sidebar, announced today that he’s moving up to this area with his family. And their plans sound pretty darn good to me. Make sure you visit his blog and get the details.
He says he’s been gone for twenty years so I’ll volunteer my services when they move back up in case his proper Minnesota English needs a little polishing up. They’re kinda picky about stuff like that around here. If you don’t talk right you could be labeled a foreigner, or worse, from Iowa! But I promise to see them through. Don’t want to see a good family go down because of poor grammar.
I get a funny feeling JM and family and our family will be connecting up in the future and we know we share many, many common interests. And when the time comes I’m sure we’ll fill everybody in. Minnesota agrarians are gaining a huge asset. And we Praise the Lord!!

Oh no, if there is such thing as proper grammar I have really mascared it in my blog. Yikes….I don’t have a spell check or little time to edit what I write. Even when I edit, I still find mistakes. We won’t even discuss the problems of talking with me in person.
I can’t wait to hear all the tapes I am sure they will be insightful. I wasn’t very nervous because I was to dumbfounded. I didn’t really understand why anyone would travel so far to hear me talk. My husband falls asleep because I chatter away endlessly. Maybe Rick could publish mine under cures for insomnia. Seems to work for Brian.
Though I am honored he stopped by this way, I still don’t understand why anyone would pay to hear me rattle on about life. I have had this same kind of dumbfounded feeling when people read my blog. I honestly thought it would sit unread and I would get lots of internet tomatoes thrown at me. Now, on the flip side, I would love to hear the voices behind the blog authors he has interviewed. Even more so, I would have loved to do the “whirlwind tour”. The opportunity to meet people doing what we would like to do is just the neatest idea.
I am envious, in a good way, that you are getting a new neighbor. Sometimes it gets rather lonely out here. Wouldn’t it be cool to have a Christian Agrarian retreat of some sorts. We could all get together at different farms and fellowship. But, who has time to stop working to do that? Can’t really take the cows with me either. It is fun to dream.
Enjoy your new neighbor. I so wish I knew my agrarian bloggers in real life. Many have encouraged me in more ways than they know.
Blessings my friend!

In reality us Minnesotans love Iowans. I know I do, I’m writing this for anybody outside the region so they’ll know that our two states “always” crack jokes about the other. Them folks in Iowa are just great!
KSMM,
That’s exactly how I feel about it all.I won’t even add anything because you “do” have a gift on the keyboard.
God Bless You All Down There.
Amy,
OOPS, sorry I forgot you weren’t talking to me

Amy, honey, I think there would be cheaper cures for your pregnancy induced insomnia.
Kansans have no dialect. My Oakie friends jest because I don’t have a twang. Oh well, I do find Brian saying crick instead of creek so we have minor dialect things going.
