Saturday Evening Notes

May 20th, 2006 by Northern Farmer

The week is wrapping up and good progress is being made here with planting. Almost all the important fields are done now so I can calm down a bit. And this evening I was checking out the family corn patch and even the corn planted a week ago is coming up, every variety too. So, a little more planting the next week or so and we should have all the different seeds in the garden, plus next week it should finally be warming up around here so we can get the indoor plants out there, plus move the chickens out of the brooder and into a chicken tractor, get ready to reload the brooder and build at least two more chicken tractors. Plus it sounds like I’ll be getting around twenty or so Bantams from a nephew. Plus besides the chickens that we hatch out ourselves we want to purchase more layers as that is building up. Now last years hens were basically black, so this year we’ll get some red chickens so we know what year they were hatched, color coding them you know, easy way for identification as far as telling age. Gotta get cracking around here and slap some stuff together for them fowled critters.

All in all, everything is moving along, in reality we aren’t any more behind than normal, so being we’re normal I guess we aren’t behind, anyway that’s my logic. It’ll be good to get some of this out of the way, but on a farm one’s never done, so to speak. There are always more and more jobs piling up. But then again, it’s never boring or mundane.

So until we catch up a bit I’ll have to cut these posts short. Almost bed time and I’m still in work clothes, dusty work clothes. Tomorrow’s church, looking forward to it as always. You know, years ago I never went to church much when I was in the modern luke warm church, and thinking back, oh thinking back, I could never, never go back. Go back to such emptiness, so much nothing. No, tomorrow we’ll be heading for the hills as always this past nine months for some preaching, teaching, and healing. How things change when the Word is taught and preached.

I’ve been praying for the rain to stay away until you get done planting. So let me know when you’re done so I can stop praying for no rain. I saw your mud tracks on the road when I went by. So I knew you must have been working really hard today. Keep up the good work Tom.

Sorry for the above comment. I thought I had said something about the rain. I came back later and there was nothing. I guess you put a new post in between times. Have a good one.

    Thanks Pastor Josh,

Never worry about double posting around here, the rules aren’t to strict :) As mentioned in the post, we’re moving along OK. When I get in at night I don’t have very much energy to write so I basically just give a report on what I’m doing around here. But, today being Sunday it’s time to kick back and enjoy it all. Looks like a good one too!
