Lack of Knowledge

Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge….

Glory to God! The day went well, plenty of work done and all is good. House is warm, the outside isn’t and they’re talking maybe a snowstorm tomorrow in this neck of the woods. Well, let er come, I’m ready as I’ll ever be even though I still have twenty seven cows pounding out swamp grass across the county road. If there’s allot of snow we’ll get some hay out to them somehow and in the next few days get em home where it’ll be much easier on me if I have to be feeding them.

Yesterday something was brought to my attention and I’ve been dwelling on it the past day as I’ve been working. I was told to take a look at the Minnesota state constitution concerning this statement: Sec. 7. No license required to peddle. Any person may sell or peddle the products of the farm or garden occupied and cultivated by him without obtaining a license therefor. Is it only me or is this something that has been kept a secret? No, I don’t think its a secret because anyone that wants to look at the state constitution can do so anytime their heart desires. But I see that I have a huge lack of true knowledge as far as this is concerned and its no one’s fault but my own.

In farming and homesteading today, at least in this state I doubt if hardly anyone has come across the “law”. The highest law in the state says we may sell or peddle “the products of the farm or garden”. And the state has to keep their nose out of it. Pure lack of knowledge on my part but that’s been remedied as far as this goes. This opens up a whole new train of thought. That the law says we are to be able to sell or peddle our product without any license. In other words we don’t have to answer or report to the state, period when it comes to marketing direct from the farm. Now I can see where this wouldn’t cover farmers markets or other public things, looks to me that its just off the farm. Another thing that caught my eye was this:

We, the people of the state of Minnesota, grateful to God for our civil and religious liberty, and desiring to perpetuate its blessings and secure the same to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution

God is mentioned in the very first words of the constitution, hows that for separation of church and state! Yup, I’ve been thinking, thinking allot today about this. The law is on the side of the small landholder, the small farmer, the homesteader and gardeners. The law is but the government isn’t. Funny how that works. The bureaucracy makes “rules” that are thought of as laws, which they are not because the rules more often than not break the law. When a person begins to understand this things become much clearer. And the rules can rule because of lack of knowledge. The rights of families are trampled, families live in fear of crossing the line and breaking the rules with inspectors always harassing them as they want to sell their product. The only reason for these rules is not public safety, it’s to make sure the corporations get the profit and there’s no other reason. In the beginning of the last century there were food safety laws put into effect in this country and the states. The reason was to put a halt to the totally unsafe corporate food system. But money talks and money buys the government, takes it from the well intentions and turns it around to stifle the safe producers. To take the food production and lively hood away from millions of families through out the land and hand it to a handful. Oh Lord has this been corrupted! And as time goes on many folks think the only safe food is from the hell bent corporations. And the corporations can go basically untouched.

Gods people need to wake up! To gather knowledge! My Bible says that we will be destroyed for lack of knowledge. It doesn’t say everything is going to be just so beautiful and hunky dory, no, it says we will be destroyed without knowledge. So its time to get some and use it! What good does it do to try and live the way God intends us to and still follow the world in lockstep when the law says differently? This is a case of losing freedoms while the freedom is still the law and folks don’t even know about it. And I’d be willing to bet that this ain’t the only one.

I heard a sermon that I downloaded on the internet a while back and the preacher with a powerful voice said, “Wake up, wake up, wake up you sleeping Christians”. And that is the problem today, the church is asleep. Everywhere. Because if it wasn’t asleep there would be none of the insane rules and regulations that are being rammed down our throats, nothing but asleep. And very few want to rock the boat, might take them out of their nice cozy slumber! Where are the people standing up to a society going down the tubes, where? I ain’t talking about people that hide out because they ain’t going to hide out for long because God isn’t with folks that are hiding out. What would have become of the early church if they’d of hid out? I tell you there wouldn’t be no church, period.

Boy, this gets to me! And I’ll pound on it! I don’t care if your Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, Reformed, or anything else, your more than likely in a slumbering church, if it ain’t already in its death throws. A while back they had a rally down in St Paul about gay marriage, this was a rally opposing it. Church folks. Very, very few church folks. Many members of our little church went, took the day off of work and traveled all the way down there to show there support of traditional marriage. But where were the church people from the state, where. So few were there compared to what should have been there. Sleeping Christians, never caring, might be complaining but to lazy to step out and care. That’s why when I see so many internet sites and people talking all about this and that, nit picking on various points of religion, pre mil, post mil, Calvinism, etc. When I come across how they feel a service should be run, how a song should be sung it just makes me want to throw up! Because where were they? Sludging in their self made sewer of religion and the world goes to hell because of inaction! You can say you have a covenant with God, maybe you do, and it’s not worth it’s weight in used toilet paper if there’s no action to back it up! Faith without works is dead and let me tell you, there’s very little works going on. How will it look at judgment day when one is asked, “You lived with the freedom to change things for the good, you lived with the freedom to speak out and you were silent!” And the most terrible thing, a while later there was a rally supporting gay marriage and there were many church’s there supporting it. God help us. A terrible thing, the church is almost silent except for those church’s that support sin.

Always silent, never want to rock the boat, just want to hang out in the church sanctuary, a place to hide away from the world. Defeated, looking to be saved from all of this. A church receding. A weak church, a church that is scared of the world. A church that pounds another spike into the wrist of our Savior as they ignore the world full of people that Christ died for. He died for every single one, everyone. Not a select few, but for them all! The most important knowledge we can have is to realize that the Body of Christ’s mission is to reach out to all of those He died for. Yuck, that doesn’t sound like fun. But that’s the only reason we are here! We don’t reach out to people so they won’t go to hell, the church is to be reaching out to “every” person because Jesus Christ died for them as much as He died for you and me! And if we don’t it’s just a proclamation to God that His suffering and dying was of little importance to us.

I can’t stop. You know what God hates the most? Is it the sinners, no, He loves them and doesn’t want to lose a single one of them. It’s a church going person that doesn’t do what He says to do! A lukewarm Christian and He said He would vomit them from His mouth. Hey, He said it, I didn’t. This is what its all about, nothing less. And if we’d only realize it the world would shake with God’s Glory! Where are the people that are willing to take a stand, to proclaim Christ in the streets, on the rural roads, in farm and field, in the market place. They were in the early church but are almost non existent in the modern American church.

There’s a huge lack of knowledge today, from the littlest things to the things that are most important. I do believe its time to die to our self interests, our petty self interests and step out and do what we’re supposed to do. A hard message tonight, but it’s true none the less. People don’t like it now days in modern day America, which they shouldn’t because it convicts every single person. The truth hurts, it hurts me too, but its still the truth. And the truth will set us free. Glory to God, I could write a couple thousand more words but I think I’ll leave it at that tonight!

    Tom,

It sure is time for Christians to wake up. Today my oldest son and I picked up a Hoard’s Dairyman from a local elevator. The issue was given to us - I sure wouldn’t pay for this magazine. One letter to the editor is from a Christian man who castigates the magazine for backing NAIS. This reader says “I have much respected Hoard’s Dairyman as almost the bible for dairymen, but this time Hoard’s is helping the anti-Christ with the Mark of the Beast.” At the end of the letter he says “Shame on you Hoard’s Dairyman for misleading dairy farmers and Christians.” Seems Christians have gotten way to naive about the intentions of such magazines. We need to wake up and pay attention to the true Bible that applies to every area of life.

And as for the freedom to sell our goods without interference from the state - The same issue of Hoard’s reports that the Pennsylvania ag department has banned food labels including words such as “no growth hormones”, “no pesticides”, and “no antibiotics”. So much for the ability to tell the truth about food and for freedom to describe our products. I hope that the bureaucrats in Minnesota learn to live by rules laid down in our Constitution.

    Jim,
Right you are! Christians have gotten way to naive about the intentions of magazines such as that and just about everything else. It’s called dumbing down. I get a stack of ag mags every week and I must say that I never even glance at them. I even fill out the card they send once a year and say I don’t want to receive them anymore, but they keep on sending them, don’t want to offend the god name Monsanto and a few others. They want into the farmer’s home, office or barns. And always the same line, anti-Christ from the word go! But in our dumbing down this society has decided it’s OK to separate faith issues from worldly issues and to live a two faced life. Live one way in the world, supposedly another way when it comes to faith. But I can assure folks that there is no such thing.

Destroyed for lack of knowledge, something to think about. The word destroyed doesn’t sound like a word that has a middle ground. it doesn’t say we will be hampered a bit, it doesn’t say we’ll have some tough times here and there, it says destroyed. And it sure looks like this is going to be the end result in this present society.
